We own an inventory of over 800 Kenetech 100 kW (model KCS-56) wind turbines, located in Altamont Pass, near Livermore, California. After being rebuilt, these wind turbines operate today like-new, typically over 97% operating availability. We also have available an abundance of spare parts to operate these 100 kW wind turbines.
You may be interested in purchasing our 100 kW wind turbines to build a large wind farm or to install a single turbine on a farm or rural business to reduce your long-term electric costs. Many states and local utilities offer a net metering scheme, which allows the individual farmer or business owner to sell power back to the utility at your retail electric prices by reversing your electric meter.
This 100 kW wind turbine was originally developed by U.S. Windpower, who later changed their name to Kenetech Windpower, which no longer exists. However, during Kenetech’s reign, they installed over 4,000 of these 100 kW wind turbines in five countries around the world. These wind turbines have billions of operating hours—one of the most successful and long-standing wind turbines of its time—it’s a proven “workhorse” in the wind industry. FINANCING AND GOVERNMENT RENEWABLE ECONOMIC INCENTIVES
In the U.S., there may be various renewable energy grants or loans available to help build and subsidize your wind turbine or wind farm. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Business Programs may offer loans and grants for renewable projects through its Energy and Energy Efficiency Program. This USDA Program provides financial assistance to farmers, ranchers, and rural small businesses to purchase renewable energy systems, such as, wind turbines. Grants will be awarded competitively to fund rural renewable energy projects. Grants can fund up to 25% of a project’s total cost. Grants may be awarded up to $500,000 for renewable energy projects.
